Vintage 1940s Accordion Wood Sewing Box FILLED with 1940s 1950s Thread and Tools. PLEASE SEE ALL 12 PHOTOS.Well worn, loved, and used but still in incredible shape. This is a desktop model in that it does not have a handle and instead has 4 small wooden feet to keep it stable when opened.
This allows it to be opened over the edge of a table and not fall, it's very well balanced. On the top are 2 cabinet doors that open upward and allow access to those top 2 tiers of trays without having to unfold the whole thing. Beyond that, the second tier and the third tier which is a wider tray the size of the base can be opened like an accordion. All of it works perfectly and is all original from an estate.
I will gently place bubble wrap in each tray to help avoid shifting damage and wrap the entire piece in bubble wrap in a secure thick box fully wrapped in packaging tape to keep out moisture or humidity during transit. NO MAKER'S INFORMATION AVAILABLE FROM WHAT I CAN SEE.Possible Norwegian or Polish made based on other ones I've seen and the design of the handle knobs and the top. The woodwork on the top of this is my favorite part.
It's incredible and very MCM (Mid-Century Modern). IMPORTANT UPDATE: You can actually see it in the original photos but I didn't notice when I created the above condition notes, THERE IS A MISSING PEG. If you look at the very first photo, look at the wood arms that allow the box to open and close. On the right hand side there is a missing one in the middle.
It still opened and closed perfectly for me when testing that's why I didn't notice. BUT THIS DAMAGE HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE LISTING AND THE PRICE HAS BEEN LOWERED TO REFLECT IT.
