Magnificent Pair French Net Lace Tambour Curtains Circa 1860 Chateau Figural Herons Fountain. Once in a life time find and so very rare! This pair of cotton net lace curtains date from mid to last quarter of the 19th Century and are magnificent and unparalleled in today's market. They are made of pure cotton net and add an air of elegance to any room. It's difficult enough to find one let alone a matching pair intact.
The stunning motif on each curtain includes two Heron's gracefully perched under a cascading water fountain catching the spray of droplets as they fall, below are floral pedestals both sides are framed by cat tails, trellis and flowers from falling vines at the top. The exquisite detail includes small two smaller birds hovering over the top of the water fountain. These have been cleaned with professional products and hand blocked.
They are sturdy and ready to use again as curtains, a light room divider or also would make fabulous bed covers as shown. Both panels are finished with heavy button hole embroidery on three sides and can stand alone.The tops are finished and would have been pinned or have a string run through the very small pocket at the top.
