Has been patched in the past - It was not by me. I have been researching this piece some more.. Aubusson and Gobelin worked in much the same manner. Styles and designs were copied from all over. This might be Aubusson, or Gobelin.
It's subject matter might be inspired by earlier tapestries, known as Mille Fleur. But, it also shows references to early 17th century, figural tapestries. Odenaairde (Flanders), or Brussels, or Lille (France). It could be Flemish, or Beauvais (France).Ithout a label or signature, it is almost impossible to determine the origins of a tapestry this old.
