A very fine unframed Georgian silk embroidery sampler worked by Emma Smith, aged 11, of Wolverhampton, in the late 18th century. The sampler bears crowns and the initials G. Most likely referring to King George III as the style and materials date this embroidery to 1780 - 1800. The motifs are delightful vases of flowers including a central towering display rather like a tall tulip vase. The sampler is in good, bright condition with no damage, just a couple of tiny holes, barely visible. It has tape sewn to the edges which has the remains of paper glued to it, though there is no glue on the sampler itself. It measures 12.75 by 9 inches 32.5 by 23 cm. The photos can be enlarged for more detail. I guarantee that this is a genuine antique Georgian silk embroidery sampler. The item "FINE ANTIQUE GEORGIAN G.
