EXQUISITE Vintage French Chateau 19th C Antique Double Bedspread Brocade Panel

  
Originally commissioned in France for an English Stately Home. 72" wide x 89" Long (1.83m x 2.26m). This stunning bedspread was part of a bedroom suite in a period property and dates back to the 1800s. Given its excellent quality and condition, this is a rare find, and offered here by the owners for a quick sale. It is made up of three sections, each 24" wide (for a total width of 72") and is 89 long. The sections are demarcated by a complementary gold trim. The fabric is a cotton damask, with soft gold overlaid embroidery in the form of floral baskets. Originally part of a bedroom suite that included bed curtains, window drapes, and cushions, this is the only piece remaining from the collection. It can, of course, be used a throw or bedspread as intended, or as wall hanging, made into a single curtain or fabric could be reworked for cushions, etc.

Given its age, this bedspread is in remarkably good condition. It has been carefully stored, and there are no whiffs or smells. There is very slight sun fading along the sides, but the fabric has lost none of its grandeur and the colours and pattern have aged well. There is one tiny spot of fray, which is shown in the last photograph (please see the center of the photo), apart from that, it is in very good condition for its age.
