Scattering of marquerites and other simple flowers along with grapes and pineapples. Exquisite work that a experienced quilter would sew with 10 stitches per inch.
Stitches are precise and consistent. Although unused it has NOT been washed and has two or three small brown stains, no holes and no repairs. Some oxidation storage spots scattered about from decades of non use. This quilt would be a wonderful addition and worthy of your collection.
The provenance is very solid. I bought a collection of 18 quilts from Susan Greene. THIS IS FROM HER COLLECTION. Susan lives about 45 minutes from my home and have known her for many years.
She has travelled the east coast going to all the museum for photographing their collection for the book as well as doing seminars on textiles as well as showing these quilts in her talks to show people attending the seminars on identification of prints and fabrics from different time period. Greene used this quilt in her presentations as well as fabric example photographs in her book. ANTIQUE & VINTAGE QUILTS : 1840 TO 1900 ANTIQUE QUILTS.
