A+++ WOVEN PENN COVERLET DATED 1852 SIGNED DANIEL BEIL RICH INDIGO. Was woven by David Beil in New Hamburg, Mercer County, Pennsylvania in 1852. It is clean and bright with virtually no wear. The fringe is worn on about half of the sides. No holes; a few missing stitches, this coverlet is truly in remarkable condition.According to the listing in American Coverlets and their Weavers, one of David Beils coverlets has the name James Buchanan inscribed on it. It says that it is doubtful, though not impossible, that this client was President James Buchanan. Measures a very large 72 x 89. Please let me know if you need more photos or have any questions.
