A fine 17th Century English antique embroidered panel with stump work (often referred to as "raised work"). With a full-length figure possibly St. Mark in an ovoid cartouche flanked by flowers, foliage and animals complete with lion on a hill!

With silk and metal thread on a silk ground. Presented behind glass within a period frame with gilt inner slip.

Provenance: This stump work panel was previously owned by Alan Parker, renowned musician and composer, and has been sourced by us from his collection. He has an impressive CV being named as the electric guitarist on Donovan's "Hurdy Gurdy Man", the Walker Brothers' "No Regrets", David Bowie's "1984", Mike Batt's "The Ride to Agadir" and the Top of the Pops theme music version of "Whole Lotta Love".

He has also played with/produced for some of the most well known music talent around including Elton John, Madonna. Andrew Lloyd Webber, Cliff Richard, Pink Floyd, Hank Marvin to name just a few! He is famed for the "BeanzMeanzHeinz" theme and for working on many movie and TV scores.

Condition - as per images. Light degradation; age related perforations to the silk ground and staining.
