1793 Fine Scottish Antique Georgian Sampler Signed Jean Graham VG Condition
The workmanship is incredible and the colours remain bright in this 224 year old Scottish Georgian Sampler dated 1793. Central panel with inscription (sic). Favour is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman that feareth the Lord she shall be praised. I Love them that love me and those that seek me early shall find me. Jean Graham sewed this Sempler in the Year 1793. Dedicated to her father and mother whose names, John Graham & Mary Campbel, are topped by little coronets. Given its age it is in very good and original antique condition - while many early samplers of this kind suffer from colour fading, unpicked stitches, tears and holes etcetera, none of that appears to be an issue with this one which has been kept under glass in a wood & gilt frame. Frame measures approx: 18 +1/2 x 13 +1/2 inches.
