Continental (European) Silk over Silk Needlework Panel, worked in various stitches on a silk ground depicting a classical maiden feeding swans, the figure having a painted face and hands, set in a rectangular frame with an oval aperture. Height of frame 14 1/4 x width 12 inches, and the exposed oval portion is 9.5" x 11.75".
The piece was sewn, c. Overall, the piece is in excellent original condition. There is some light deterioration and fading to the upper exposed silk, that does not bear any silk needlework.
Otherwise, the piece is in pristine condition. The needlework is complete, free of snags, deterioration, or imperfections. The colors are bright, and the characters easily discernable. I could not confirm the artist, and the piece (per usual) is unsigned. The frame is old, with a few stable cracks, and has been repainted white.
