ANTIQUE FRENCH 18th CENTURY SILK METALLIC BROCADE FABRIC FRAGMENT GOLD TINSEL. Stunning French 18th century narrow width silk brocade fabric showing a meandering floral design woven in a myriad of colours on a silvery ivory ground embellished with gold tinsel, likely origin Lyon. This is a skirt panel salvaged from a court dress. This beautiful luxurious fabric has great texture and a wonderful glittering effect.Condition : No fade, rot or repairs, the fabric is substantial though a little crumpled, a couple of small holes, 1 tiny, see pic 18 & another slightly larger on the hem see 19, a short tear on the edge top right as shown pic 19. See the whole piece in pic 2, the reverse side see pic 16. Generally a rare old textile very good condition. May be of interest to period textile enthusiasts for gentle use, display, archive or design.
