A very rare English Ceremonial Uniform Coat. King George V Household Cavalry.
Extremely heavy due to high metallic content in fabrics. Constructed of very fine quality metallic gold bands and lace ribbon upon a burgundy silk velvet ground. Lined with black felted wool. Antique condition with appropriate signs of wear commensurate with age and use. Marks / tarnish to metallic gold.
Kings monogram applique missing on back. Royal crown applique missing from front. I can see signs of applique along front closing edge which is no longer there. Some of the bands have become detached and need re stitching into place mainly under the arm. All hand made buttons are present and original.Overall good for such a rare item. Sleeves are 30 inches long. A similar coat can be found in The National Army Museum London.
