A wonderful and rare find! This garment is late 18th or very early 19th century French, woman's bodice.Made of a gorgeous silk woven damask and the lining is pieced linen. This textile is all hand stitched other than some later machine alterations at the bottom edge. There is a light silk edging. The tone is a wonderful burnt orange and cream tone.
Very large for these textiles! The front of the bodice was tied and this textile would have been worn by a more buxom woman! MEASUREMENTS : This lovely textile measures approximately. 22 inches across the chest, laid flat. CONDITION : This textile is in as found condition.
It's in really wonderful condition! There is some splitting in the thin silk trim , but generally this textile is in absolutely wonderful condition!
