18th Century Antique Dutch Silk On Linen Needlework Sampler Cross Stitch
This is a truly wonderful antique Dutch cross stitch sampler, showing crowns, birds, a rabbit, flowers, peacocks and a monkey. It is stitched with multi-colored silk thread on open weave linen cloth. The sampler dates from the 18th century. It measures approximately 14 x 15 1/2 inches or 35.5 x 39.5 cm. The sampler is in good condition, considering its age. The needlework is in good condition, the colors are almost as vibrant as when it was stitched. The cloth has a few small holes in it and is a little bit worn in a few places, especially around the egde.
